Spring Gala
RPA Fundraising
Rockwall Preschool Association (RPA) celebrated their 2007-2008 fundraising efforts by presenting checks to Helping Hands, the Rockwall YMCA, and the Rockwall County Boys and Girls Club. These three contributions rounded out another successful year of RPA’s efforts to support local children’s and women’s charities. Throughout the past year, RPA also donated significant funds to the Rockwall County Library, Rainbow Room, Shoes for Kids and the Susan G. Komen Foundation, totaling almost $12,000 in total monies given.
The 2008 – 2009 board has been working hard all summer with continued plans for philanthropy that includes a monthly book drive for the new library and ongoing preparation for the annual fundraising Gala, which is expected to occur in early 2009. Members are encouraged to bring gently used or new books to donate to the children’s area of the library every meeting. RPA hosted an Annual Fundraising Gala April 5, 2008 at Hickory Street Annex and an Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament October 20, 2007 at Buffalo Creek Golf Course. Our "Back to the 80's in '08" Gala was scheduled for April 5th 2008! We are very excited how much money we raised for our community! And we HAD a GREAT time! There was a wonderful dinner, silent auction, live auction, casino tables, 80's DJ and dancing, "prom" pictures, look-a-like contests, and many more fun activities. 2009 Gala Tickets will go on sale at the December 2008 meeting. Friends, family, and Community Members are encouraged to attend! You won't want to miss it!
During 2006/2007, RPA raised over $27,000 for Rockwall County Helping Hands, The Rainbow Room, the Rockwall County Library, the Rockwall YMCA, the Rockwall Boys and Girls Club, the New Beginnings Center, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and Shoes for Kids!
In addition to cash donations distributed to each of these charities, our members assisted by stocking the Helping Hands Food Pantry during the months of June and November and the Rainbow Room's School Supply stock room as the area children were returning for the new school year, toys were also provided for the Helping Hands Christmas Toy Drive and local families were assisted on distribution day. As the school year wound down and summer approached we presented the New Beginnings Center with a Big Screen TV and snack items.
Historically, two main
organizations have benefited from the fundraising efforts of RPA
members. They are the Rockwall County Helping Hands ~ through a
special preschool assistance fund; and the Rainbow Room ~ an
organization that works with Child Protective Services. Both of
these outstanding service organizations depend on donations and
volunteers to continue providing much needed services to Rockwall
County Children (and adults) in crisis situations.
We are also a strong advocate of the Rockwall County Children's
Library, and the need to see it grow to meet the increasing population
of Rockwall County. We focus on the children's section of the
library, and have donated educational tools, music, and books.
RPA also participated in the production of the Rockwall Kid's Zone
playground and donated several fun pieces of playground equipment.
